SARAH CARROLL HAMAUEI, MD


CREDENTIALS:

Dr. Sarah Hamauei is a board-certified addictionologist practicing in Northwest LA.  She has consulted on care of patients with SUD for facilities throughout the state along multiple levels of care. She was part of a statewide opioid expert panel advising Louisiana on Opioid Policy and has been a keynote speaker for several private and public events throughout Louisiana.  Through a grant, she led a team in creating an MAT program increasing access for Medicaid patients to receive covered MAT services in North LA.  She currently works with several professional health programs, IOPs, outpatient programs, and continues to see patients in private practice in Northwest Louisiana.  

Dr. Hamauei attended LSU in Baton Rouge for her undergraduate education where she received degrees in Psychology and Microbiology.  She obtained her Doctor of Medicine degree from LSUHSC School of Medicine in Shreveport, and subsequently completed her residency in Family Medicine in 2009.  She began treating addiction in 2010 and became boarded in Addiction Medicine 2015.  She is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, the American Board of Addiction Medicine, and the American Board of Preventive Medicine, which now holds the ABMS-recognized Addiction Medicine subspecialty.
